Sprang Arts Grants (Grassroots Gants).
BACKGROUND: The Orange County Arts Commission, sa en epprovetl Designated County
Partner (DCP), subgrents Grassroots Grenta to local ads oigan¢s[iona, wiN funding provided
by the NOM Carolina Arts COUncilGressroota Arta Pmgrem. Funtls for ads programming
reflect the racial antl culturel tlivereity of Orange County. Each organiutJOn receiving a
Gassmots Grant matches the grent amount with tool dollars In oMer to receive an awaM. The
Orange County Arts Commission reviews ell grant requests antl tletenninea [he successful
recipients.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funtla ($21,530)are pmvitletl by [he North Carolina Arta Council for
tlisidbution by the Arts Commission. No Orange County funtls are usetl forGreasreoLa Grents.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends [ha[[he BOaN acknowledge the local
recipienS of Ne awartla during the November 19, 2001 meeting with the Dresentalipn of checks
by the BOartl Chair, Stephen Halkiotis.
