PURPOSE: To consider a petition to add Glenn Street to the State-maintained Secondary Road
System.
BACKGROUND: Glenn Street: Residents of Glenn Street (3 homes) have petitioned the North
Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to accept maintenance responsibilities. Glenn
Street is located in Hyde-Away Forest subdivision (recorded in July 1969) off the east side of Mill
Creek Road, Cheeks Township. Glenn Street also provides access for five (5) homes from Tanya
Drive. NCDOT is working with property owners on Tanya Drive to obtain right-of-way in order to
make improvements to Tanya drive and add it to the State Maintenance Program.
NCDOT has investigated this request (please refer to attached Secondary Road Addition Report)
and has submitted the petition to the Board of Commissioners for its review and approval. The
Board must take an administrative action to approve the petition to NCDOT in order for NCDOT to
accept Glenn Street into the State Maintenance Program.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with this decision item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Administration recommends that the Board approve the request to
add Glenn Street to the State Secondary Road Maintenance Program.
