BACKGROUND: Omnge County Is one of caveat local governments required to comply w0h
Ne Neuae River Beain Stommvater Progam (The Neuse Rulea). There are five required
sections which are 1) New development Nrtropen Control, 2) Illegal Discharges, 3) Retroflm,
d) Public Eduea0on Component. ant $) Repardng RequiremaMS.
Triangle J Council of Gavemmants (TJCOG) has wntrocled with Capkal Broatlmating
Company (CSC) to proNtle the regdlretl Public Etlucetion wmponenl in Me Neuse Rulee.
Radio spots will be airetl over 29 rotllo sta0ons aPolialetl with the North Carolina News Network.
Televlabn epota will be eiatl on WRAL-N.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Cost are based on a base ale of $2,400 and then weighted per
population of esrJt local government. Orange Counrys share will be $5,837. Funds are
available in Ne Profeaelmel Services account of the Planning & Inspectbns Oepartmenl.
RECOMMENDATION: The Atlministafion recommends lha[Oange County contact with
Triangle J Council of Gmemmems as Ne most wst e0ective way to oantlucf the Public
Education component of [he Neuae Rulea.
