PURPOSE: To receive a special presentation about the state o<Orange County's
preparetlness to deal with emergency aituatione. Including naturel and manmatle tlisasters antl
public heabh emergencies.
BACKGROUND: At their regular meeting an October 2, 2001, the County Commissioners
reques[etl a presentation on emegency preparedness for their October 16 meeting from the
ShedR, Emergency Management Director, and Health Director. Sieff of those departments
have preparetl a brief PowerPOint presentadon mvedng the County's ongoing emergency
planning eROrts, es well ea adtlitional measures being observetl in the aRermaN of recent
termriet ettacka against the Unitetl States. The Sheri R, Emergency Management pirector, antl
Health Director will also be available to respontl [o specific Commissioner questions on this
subject.
