PURPOSE: To recognize the staff Of the Orange County Finance Department for earning the
Government Finance OMCers' Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement far Excellence in
Financial Reporting.
BACKGROUND: The GFOA is the recognizetl intemationaloyanizatlon providing gultlence
and support to local end state government finance professionals throughout the Unitetl Slates
and Canada. The GFOA's CetiOcete of Achievement recognizes excellence In the preparation
and presentation of annual audits and financial roports. The GFOA Cedifiwle of Achievement
is generally acknowledged as the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental
accounting antl fnancial reporting- Ifs attainment represents a signRirant achievement by e
governmental em8y and its 5nancial management team.
The Orange County Finance Depadmenl has been awaNed the GFOA Certificate of
Achlevement every year slots 1982. Each yaeq the eligibility sfarxleMS antl exportations for
the awaM become more emngent. Finance Director Ken Chavloua antl hie staff are
