PURPOSES To recegn¢e staHof the Orange County Solitl Waste Management Department for
their receipt of an awaN from the North Carolina Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of
North America.
BACKGROUND: At the August 2001 conferenw of the North Carolina Chapter of the Solitl
Weete Aeadciation of NoM Amens (SWANAJ, Orange County was rewgnized for its
Innovation and leadership in developing an0 implementing an integrated program of sclid waste
management services. The eoam will formally present to Solid Waste staff representatives the
plaque awarded by the North Carolina Cheptar of SWANA.
FINANCV\L IMPACT: There Is no financial impact associated with presentation of this awaN.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the BCaM present the awaN to the
staff of the Orange County Solitl Waste Management Department.
