BACKGROUND: The GOVemor has proclaimetl October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in North Carolina. The Orange County Ccmmisaion for Women, fie Women's Center, [he Rape Crisis Center antl the Omnge County Family Viclence Prevention Center are sponsoring the "March far Justice" cantllelight vigil on October 18" at 8:00 p. m. The march will begin at the Women's Center in Chapel Hill antl antl at the poet offira- Other activities inclutle self-tlefenae workshops, an Information booth atthe State Fair, a Billbpartl Campaign by the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestk Violence and women's empowerment wwkahopa and seminars across the Triangle. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the BOeM etlopt the ProrAametlon antl authorize the Chair to sign it.
