BACKGROUND: The General Assembly passed an act in June, 1997 to "improve the procedures for recording maps and p/afs" It requires that all counties appoint one or more Review OfFcers to "review each map and plat required to be submitted far review before the map is presented to the register of deeds for recording (NCGS 47-30.2). The Review Officer shall "certify the map or plat if it complies with all statutory requirements for recording. Each person designated a Review Officer shall, if reasonably feasible, be certified as a property mapper pursuant to G.S. 147-54.4." The General Assembly made the Act effective on October 1, 1997. On September 16, 1997, the Board of Commissioners approved Tammy H. Wood to be a County Review Officer and a resolution was recorded on 9/25/1997 in the Register of Deeds Office at Book 1636 Page 161. In 2001, Tammy H. Wood's name was changed to her maiden name, Tammy R. Hicks, by the Courts of Orange County. Pursuant to N.C. Gen. Statute 47- 30.2, the Board needs to appoint Tammy R. Hicks as Review Officer under her current legal name. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the resolution appointing Tammy R. Hicks, a certified property mapper from the Land Records/GIS office, to be a Review Officer for Orange County. z ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A COUNTY REVIEW OFFICER BE IT RESOLVED that subject to NCGS 47-30.2, the Orange County Board of Commissioners appoints Tammy R. Hicks, a certified property mapper, pursuant to G.S. 147-54.4, to be a Review Officer to review each map and plat required to be submitted for review before the map or plat is presented to the register of deeds for recording, said appointment to be effective the 21 St day of August, 2001.
