PURPOSE: To consider reappointing Jo Roberson as Orange County Tax Collector for a two
year term, effective July 1, 2001.
BACKGROUND: Chapter 105-349 of the North Carolina General Statutes requires the Board
of County Commissioners to appoint a tax collector "for a term to be determined by the
governing board". Orange County's practice has been to make appointments to the office of
Tax Collector fortwo-year terms. Ms. Jo Roberson was originally appointed Tax Collector in
January 2000 to complete the unexpired term of Ginger Rolfe, ending June 30, 2001.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board reappoint Jo Roberson
as Orange County Tax Collector for a period of two years, effective July 1, 2001.
