Orange County --Proposed Timetable, for November 2001 Bond Referendum
Event Date
1. Determine tentative referendum plan By eazly June
2. Meet with LGC staff By late Spring
3. Give informal notice to County Board of By late Spring
Elections
4. Obtain school boazd resolutions By mid-June
5. Board adapts "own words" resolution At June 25 Boazd meeting (scheduled
explaining purpose for issue and adopts meeting for budget adoption)
resolution authorizing publication of notice
of intent to file LGC application
6. Publish notice of intent to file application As soon as possible after step 6 and
in any event by 7/15
7. File LGC application Between 7/25 and 8/13 (must be at
least 10 days after event 4 and prior
to event 6)
8. Board introduces bond orders At 8/14 Boazd meeting
and schedules public hearing
9. Clerk files swam statement of debt Any time between event 6 and event
8
10. Publish notice of public hearing By 8/20 (after event 9 and at least six
days prior to event 11)
11. Hold public hearing At 8/27 Baazd meeting
12. Adopt bond order; formally set ballot At 8/27 or 9/4 Board meeting
question and referendum date
13. Publish band order as adopted As saon as possible after event 12
14. Publish notice of referendum (twice) By 9/24; then by 10/2
15. Referendum occurs 11/6
