Re: Recommendations for Animal Services Advisory Board Vacancies
At its January 15, 2020 meeting, the Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) considered a number of
candidates for positions being vacated on the board. Sue Millager and Sunita Driehuys were present

On this basis, the ASAB unanimously recommends these individuals to the Board of County
Commissioners for appointment to the ASAB to fill two vacancies:

and she has also been a volunteer and kitten foster home for Animal Services. Animal Services

our area. She attended the January ASAB meeting.
• Sunita Driehuys, DVM (position 2—community veterinarian): Dr. Driehuys has long been a
veterinarian in Chapel Hill and volunteers to perform cat sterilizations with Independent Animal

and a fresh outlook to the ASAB. I'm on the younger side of the age ranges, and I have a lot of
energy--especially for things I am passionate about(i.e., animals). While still relatively new to

Missouri--I have been a member of the Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool since March of this
year, and I would love the opportunity to be more involved.

Background, education and experience relevant to this board:
I m a lifelong animal lover. I grew up on a farm, later got into horses, and spent my formative
years working the show circuit as a groom. I ve been a farm/pet sitter for over 20 years now. I
work professionally in human clinical research, but my passion has always been animals and
animal care. I ve volunteered in multiple capacities with animal rescue groups and other groups
with a horse component (therapeutic riding). And I am also a fill in veterinary assistant at a local
practice when they need additional hands. I think all of that brings a wealth of love and
experience that could prove helpful and relevant.
Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
I d like to find a way to combine by love of animals with my interest in local government and this
seems a good way to marry that.

Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
This board is intriguing because the decisions made have strong personal and potentially
community impacts. I m a dog owner and aficionado, but I ve also been the recipient of a nasty
dog bite and have been exposed to the animal control/reporting side of things. I think it takes a
very special kind of person to listen to these kinds of issues with an open mind while also being
cognizant of what could happen, but we as a community need strong folks who can be
independent and impartial.
