Several agencies were represented, including Duke Forest, Town of Hillsborough, Orange County Recreation and Parks, Orange County Planning, and the OWASA Board of Directors . While discussing short-term issues and action items, the Committee also conferred on longer term products . Listed below are general action items, specific action items for the June 24th Work Group meeting, and long term items to produce. Lastly, an update meeting was scheduled for July 15th at noon in the same location, (Orange County Government Services Center Conference Room, Hillsborough) General Action Items i Inventory private recreational facilities throughout Orange County and municipalities within • Update public recreational facility inventory of Orange County and municipalities by developing a resource template database and asking each municipality to update their information in the given form Ask the Orange County Visitor' s Bureau to attend future Work. Group and Subcommittee meetings in the interest of information sharing. • Call Triangle Apartment Association and Orange Congregations in Mission (OCIM) for information regarding private facility inventory (e .g. pools, tennis courts, parks) - Sarah Magruder ® Look into brochure format using advertising around border • Bob Jones i Contact schools by letter to ask for identification of site acreage and facilities : Margaret Brown Specific Action Items for June 24 Meetina • Provide brochure from Triangle Communities detailing grant funding opportunities related to Plan . - Dave Stancil Create first draft of Access Database template for resource inventory - Sarah Magruder Lang Term DeDiverables ® Publish brochure on County facilities utilizing County resources such as the new Publications Assistant in the Tourism Department, ® Prepare presentation on Countywide facilities for School Boards and municipalities. ® Compile list of possible projects around the County after inventory is finished (e. g . environmental resource center at Cane Creek Reservoir) . • Focus on November 1998 as goal for report to Board of Commissioners. 1 d HE t9616 ' ON Xdd ONINNVIdAWO035NV 0 Wd 09 : 1 NOW 96 - Nllr THE PLANS/FACILITIES SUBCOMMITTEE ( AKA THE ALLEN BAR B QUE GROUP ) REPORT TO BOARD DUNE 2491998 RON HYATT FOR THE SUBCOMMITTEE l . THE STUDY OF OWSA LANDS IS NOW UNDER WAY AND SHOULD BE COMPLETED SHORTLY , IT IS HOPED THAT THE STUDY WILL HAVE EXCELLENT POSSIBILITIES FOR SOME COOPERATIVE USES FOR RECREATION . 2 THE FACILITY AT CEDAR GROVE IS EXCELLENT AND THE PLANNING FOR ITS USE IS UNDERWAY . IT WILL BE AN EXCELLENT FACILITY . 3 . IN CHAPEL HILL , THE FOCUS IS ON THE NORTHERN COMMUNITY PARK AND ITS NEEDS IN REGARDS TO A POOL AND A COMMERCIAL BATTING CAGE , SEVERAL GRANTS HAVE BEEN APPLIED FOR AND THE RESULTS OF THESE REQUESTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY . DEPENDING UPON THE SUCCESS OF THESE GRANT PROPOSALS THERE MAY BE A NEED TO ' CHANGE SOME FUNDS REQUESTS . 4 . SOUTHERN PARK HAS A LIGHTED AND WATERING SYSTEM SOCCER FIELD UNDER CONSTRUCTION . A MASTER PLAN FOR SOUTHERN PARK IS PROPOSED TO BEGIN BEING PREPARED IN JANUARY OF 1999 . IT IS ESTIMATED THAT THE PLANNING WILL TAKE A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR. 5 .
