BACKGROUND: The Housing and Community Development Director requested that Personnel consider changing the class title of Rehabilitation Specialist at Salary Grade 16 to Housing Rehabilitation Specialist, still at Salary Grade 16 so that the class title alone would give a more accurate representation of the type of duties that are assigned to the position. Without additional information, the current title of Rehabilitation Specialist may result in a job applicant possibly thinking this is a healthcare professional who helps people recover from an illness or injury, Personnel has reviewed the request and it is evident that there are various types of Rehabilitation Specialists such as Healthcare Rehabilitation Specialists, Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists, Driver Rehabilitation Specialists, Fire Rehabilitation Specialists, and Workers' Compensation Rehabilitation Specialists, among others. Personnel recommends that the class title of Rehabilitation Specialist at Salary Grade 16 be changed to Housing Rehabilitation Specialist, still at Salary Grade 16. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board amend the Classification and Pay Plan by changing the title of the existing class of Rehabilitation Specialist at Salary Grade 16 to Housing Rehabilitation Specialist, still at Salary Grade 16.
