May 2, 1960, minutues continued.
The Board reconvened as a Board of Equalization and Review. Two representatives of Duke
Power Company were present and they requested that the present tax assessment on the property of
their company located in Eno Township be reduced.
The Board agreed to accept the itemized tax listing for Duke Fewer Company as submitted
in January of 1960.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned to meet again on Monday, June
6, 1960.

'M'inutes of the Board of Commissioners
May 23, 1960
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, Hay 23, 1960, at
8 o'clock p.m, in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.
Members present: Chairman R. J. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones, Donald McDade,
Donald Stanford and Henry Walker,
Members absent: Hone
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss with the Dowd of Public Welfare their budget
requests for the fiscal year of 1960-1961.
The Welfare Board reported that the A.D.C. and the A.P.T.D. budgets would be overspent for
the 1959-1960 fiscal year; however, there would be enough county money within the entire program
to offset the deficit.
Chairman Hobbs announed that the Board would meet with the County Board of Education on
Tuesday, May 31st at 8 o'clock p.m. and with the Chapel Hill Board of Education on Tuesday, June 7th,
at 8 o'clock p.m.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned until, Tuesday, May 31st.

The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Tuesday, May 31, 1960,
8 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.
Members present: Commissioners Clarence Jones, Donald McDade, Donald Stanford and Henry
Members absent: Chairman R. J. U. Hobbs
In the absence of Chairman Hobbs, Commissioner Walker was named to act as Chairman.
The purpose of this meeting was to receive and to discuss with the members of the County
of Education their budget for the 1960-1961 fiscal year.
