ACTION/OUTCOME

M. Zuber called the meeting to order.
M. Zuber shared that the Orange County Department on Aging Advisory Council needs Board Members
and encouraged eligible persons to consider serving. It is a County Appointed position.
Volunteers should be over 60 years old since there is an "age average" guideline for the committee.

Committee Meeting Minutes

M. Zuber asked if anyone has any suggestions or corrections for the March 5, 2019 meeting minutes.
The minutes were discussed and suggestions/corrections.
The minutes were edited on May 7 and submitted to M. Zuber and A. Cox.
None.
The minutes will be
approved at the July
2, 2019 meeting.

Ombudsman
A. Cox stated including a notice that the Chatham County ACH CAC needs volunteers and if anyone
knows someone who lives in Chatham County that might be interested, please share the volunteer
opportunity with them.
She also announced the Area on Aging, Elder Abuse Wellness Program for May 22 at the RTP Area on
Aging Headquarters, in the Archie K. Daniels room from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Autumn indicated that people could check for available space even though the RSVP deadline has
passed (flyer attached FYI).
The Stratford had a full state Inspection with survey recently.
All NC ACH programs are supposed to have a full inspection annually.

Aging Transitions
Administrator
A. Deaver gave her report on Orange County Department on Aging activities.
She announced the 2019 Senior Health Advocacy and Resource Partners of Orange County (SHARP
Service Awards) coming soon and invited all the committee to attend the awards ceremony.
“A Carepartner Collaborative Group” will meet Wednesdays, 10:00AM – 2:00PM at the Seymour Center

to provide support and social contacts for both partners: the care giver and the care receiver.

Reports:
M. Zuber and group discussion the Orange County Adult Care Homes site visits reports followed.
The final approved site visit forms will be available on the County website when fully approved.
At this meeting reports from the following facilities were reviewed:

Carol Woods
Crescent Green
Carillon Assisted Living
Brookdale Meadowmont
Adorable Senior Living
Family Care Home (<6) Reports:
M. Zuber and A. Cox suggested that the committee attempt to visit the Family Care Homes in Orange
County more than the required once a year.
The requirement is 1 visit per 12 months, but more might be helpful in view of some problems some of
these homes experience.

M. Zuber asked if any new business, comments or concerns.
M. Zuber asked if he could have a volunteer for ACH CAC Assistant Chair, he will be traveling soon.
We will need someone to cover for him.
