Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau Board of Directors Meeting
November 20, 2019
The Chapel/Orange County Visitors Bureau met at
The Holiday Inn Express , 202 Cardinal Drive, Hillsborough , NC 27278
Board Members Present : Dixon Pitt, David Brooks, Tanya Moore, Anthony Carey, Kayla Dempsey, Mark Bell , Shannan
Campbell, Sam Vadgama, Lydia Lavelle, Jeff Strickler, Mark Sherburne, Tim Hoke, Annette Stone, Matt Gladdek, Libbie
Hough, and Katie Murray .
Not Present : Penny Rich , Pam Hemminger, Spring Council .
Staff Attendance : Steve Brantley, Laurie Paolicelli , Marlene Barbera , Leslie Wilcox
Also present : Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens, Kim Tesoro, CEO, Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of
Commerce, and Sarah Parris, Executive Director, The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough .
Call to Order
Chair Anthony Carey called the meeting to order at 8 : 06 a . m .
Introductions were given by all .
Approval of Minutes
Chair Carey requested a motion to approve the October 16, 2019 minutes . Mark Bell so moved and David Bell seconded
the motion . With all members in favor, the minutes were approved as submitted .
Welcome by Host
Aftab Khan , General Manager of The Holiday Inn Express, welcomed everyone to the newly renovated Holiday Inn
Express Hillsborough .
Honoring Mayor Tom
Anthony Carey and Mayor Lavelle shared their favorite memories of Mayor Tom . Laurie thanked Mayor Tom for his
service to the community and with a proclamation from the board .
Executive Director' s Report
Laurie Paolicelli discussed the Visitors Bureau relocation and the three possible locations .
New Business / Roundtable
Chair Carey acknowledged all for updates in their respective fields and several board members shared recent events and
upcoming events .
Next meeting : Wednesday, January 15th at the Hampton Inn & Suites Chapel Hill- Carrboro/Downtown .
