ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD
September 9, 2013

MINUTES
Present: D.R. Bryan, Keia McLamb, Mark O’Neal
Orange County Staff: Steve Brantley, Yvonne Scarlett
Absent: Delores Bailey, Lori Eichel, Jim Kitchen, Karen McAdams, Mark Sherburne,
Nicholas Thomas, Tom Underwood
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 8:19 by D.R. Bryan, Chair.
Approval of July 8, 2013 Minutes - NO QUOREM PRESENT
Old Business
Business recognition program – Steve Brantley discussed the creation of a business recognition
program, with the recipient receiving an award from the County Commissioners (presented at a
regular monthly BOCC meeting). Staff to bring back recommendations at the November 11
meeting).
New Business
Mark O’Neal shared his concerns about the Quarterly Public Hearing scheduled for tonight
(September 9, 2013). One of the items on the agenda is the Eno Economic Development
District Access Management Plan (review a proposed access management plan for the Eno
EDD (Economic Development District). Mr. O’Neal felt the Economic Development Advisory
Board should have been advised of changes and asked for input.
Director’s Report - Steve Brantley
Mr. Brantley discussed the following:
Morinaga project update
Staff working on quarterly newsletter
Frank Clifton will be leaving at end of month – a new interim will be named (next week)
and an active search will begin for a permanent County Manager
County Commissioners will discuss the reformation of the Commission for Women (which
may be placed under Economic Development supervision
