MINUTES
Present: Delores Bailey, D.R. Bryan, Lori Eichel, Jim Kitchen, Karen McAdams, Mark O’Neal, Mark
Sherburne, and Tom Underwood
Orange County Staff: Steve Brantley and Yvonne Scarlett
Absent: Nicholas Thomas
Call to Order
D.R. Bryan, Chair called the meeting to order at 8:19 a.m.
Approval of Minutes – January 14, 2013
Minutes were approved unanimously.
Old Business
Advisory Board Work Plan follow-up; discussion included:
as a group, determine one or two items to focus on
developing a communications plan
incentive policy
use of quarter cent sales tax
future advisory board meeting discussions:
o May – communications plan (sub-committee to execute)
o July – quarter cent sales tax and incentive policy recommendations
Director’s Report - Steve Brantley
Mr. Brantley provided a brief summary of the Economic Development department’s activities, including:
Update on Project Rainbow & Strata Solar
Staff changes and college interns
o Dottie Schmitt’s resignation
o Interns: Two Duke students through the end of May and one MPA intern who will begin in May
Monthly or quarterly recognition award for local business and the advisory board's role in selecting
candidates and evaluating selections
Launch incubator update
PFAP nonprofit status update
Advisory board’s open position (core business manufacturing sector)
Adjournment
D.R. Bryan adjourned the meeting at 9:55 am.
