4. Report of the Parks and Recreation Director:
a. DEAPR/Parks and Recreation Items Scheduled for BOCC review this fall:
BC/BS foundation Grant Award, Eurosport Soccer Center designation as a Groundwater
Guardian Green Site, Re-naming of the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council (RPAC),
RPAC appointments and re-appointments, Parks Operations Base Options for Relocation,
Future Blackwood Farm Park Master Plan Approval, Potential Uses and Interim, Partnership
agreement with Town of Chapel Hill for Cedar Falls Park Improvements, Partnership with
Town of Hillsborough for Fairview Park Operations.
b. New Advisory Board Procedures:
Procedural changes adopted by the BOCC effective today include: This “Quick Summary
Report” in lieu of minutes, Removal of Commissioners as members/liaisons, RPAC Annual
Report and Work Plan to be provided for Commissioners Retreat.
c. Requested Updates were provided on:
Twin Creeks Greenway Construction, Fairview Park Construction, Little River Park,
Landscaping Crew
5. Report of the Co-Chairs:
a. Discussion of 2010-11 Goals and Objectives:
This was covered during discussion 4b and the Work Plan.
b. Assignment of RPAC Members to Goals:
Deferred until next meeting
6. Committee Reports:
Committee meetings were not scheduled or held in August. No report was given.

8. Old Business:
Joint Parks and Recreation Advisory Council Meeting Planning
Members of the committee suggested the joint meeting be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at
the Durham Tech – Hillsborough Campus. Topics of discussion and agenda will be discussed at the
October meeting.
