Meeting called to order at 6:05 PM NO QUORUM
Topic A
Discussion Point: Review of January, February & March 2013 Minutes
Decision/Vote(s): No Vote taken because a quorum was not present.

Topic B
Discussion Point: Director’s Report
Decision/Vote(s): -- Staff updated Board on: Emily Lees volunteered to serve as a district-wide judge for the
Congressional High School Art Competition on Monday, April 29th (11 am-1 pm) – Lindsey Alexander also
volunteered to be a district-wide judge (if she is able to get back from week-end plans on Sunday, April 28th). –
Alice Levinson and OCAC staff are on the April 16th BOCC Work Session agenda (Boards &
Commissions) to make a brief presentation and answer questions about our most recent annual report
for the BOCC’s Planning Retreat. – OCAC made a request to the BOCC for a temporary extension of the terms
of Charles Hochman, Bronwyn Merritt and Leah Rade so they can serve through our June, 2013 grant evaluation.
The OCAC is not the only board having this problem (loss of institutional memory). – Clerk to the BOCC has
distributed a request for volunteer applicants for the OCAC advisory board. – NC Arts Council has asked OCAC
and Chapel Hill Public & Cultural Arts Office to co-host one of their four strategic planning meetings (Creative
North Carolina Connects) in Chapel Hill on April 23rd in the Town Council Chambers.

Topic C
Discussion Point: New OCAC Vice Chair Needed
Decision/Vote(s): Emily Lees volunteered to serve as Vice Chair, to fill out the remainder of Andrea Riley’s term.
Action Item: Since there was no quorum present, a vote will be taken at the May, 2013 OCAC meeting.
Topic D
Discussion Point: Ad Hoc Committees and Liaison Reports
Decision/Vote(s): Staff reported that Cher Tuskey spoke on behalf of the OCAC board during the April 4th BOCC
Public Meeting in support of the Orange County Cultural Center’s request RE: performance space at Whitted
Building. The OCAC still needs a volunteer board liaison to the Orange County Cultural Center. Rebecca Ray
spoke about the possible school project. She will make a more comprehensive report at our May, 2013 meeting.

Topic E
Discussion Point: Board Concerns/Ideas/Additions to the Agenda/Old Business/New Business
Decision/Vote(s): Devra Thomas spoke about Arts Day in Raleigh that she is attending April 9th-10th. Alice
Levinson reminded board members that they should strengthen/develop relationships with the BOCC, as well as
reach out to teachers and the community for possible board members. Geoffrey Hathaway said he would talk to
Commissioner Price RE: our possible public art project for the Justice Facility. Devra Thomas is interested in
finding out about the Orange County Main Library’s strategic or cultural planning process as related to art.
