the Orange County Hoard of Cosmissioners met 1n rega2ar session on Mond~v. October 5, 1959.
at ten o~clock a.m, in the Commlesionere~ roam at the courthouse in Rilleborq N, 0.
Members present: Charrman 8. J. M. Hobbs. Commissioners Clarence Jones Donald McDade.
Donald Stanford and Henry Walker.
Members Absent: Nose '
The minutes oL the prevloua meetings were read by the Clerk and approved by the Board.
The following Department Officials presented reports for the month oS Sept®ber. 1.959:
Frank Frederick, Delinquent Tax Collector
C. D. Knight. Sheriff
Honni.e Davde. Negro Horse Demonstration Agent and
Jane Parker. i7elfara Supt.
Upon motion of Ccmmissionar Jones. seconded lrr Comedssioner Stanford and unanimously adopted
the County Accountant sae auttiordzed td pay to~A.W. Graham, Jr,~ Clerk of ~Super'i.or Cdurt of
Gra:rodlle County the amount of $24.52 far the commitment of mrs. Wary Anna Wynne La:vre¢ce and
1'homae Francis Roberts to the John W. IInstead State Hospital.
Upon motion of Cosmisaioner Walker. seconded by Commissioner McDade. and unanimously adopted
the Tax Collector ~s settlement and levy £or 1958 was accapted~ except for the final audit
which would be avbmitted at a later date by the 14. M. Ruse Company of Aaleight. N. C.
Upon motion of Commissioner Stanford seconded by Commlesiener Jones aad manimous]y adopted,
the Delinquent Tax Collector xas directed to begin collections on the land sale accounts.
Upon motion cd' Commissioner McDade seconded by Cosrmlasioner Jones and unanimously adopted.
the County Accountant was authorised to proceed with the repairingof the 4eteran~a Servico

There being no further business this meeting was adjourned with pleas to meet again on
Wed. October 21str with the represent¢tlvea of the State Higimaq Commtssion.

The Orang¢ County Beard of Conmissionera met in adjourned session on Wad., October 21, 1959
at ten o~clock a.m. in the Commisaionere~ room at the courthouse in Hillsboro. N. C.
Members present: Chairman R. S. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones. DonaldMCDade~
Donald Stanford asd Henry Walker.
Members absent: Nose
Tha purpose of this meeting was to hear a specie], report from the State Highway Commission
concerning the secondary road program in the county.
After reporting the progress made on the 19$8-1959 and the 1959-1960 secondary road
program T. A. Hurton advised the Commissioners that L. H. Gutner~ the Dietrice Engineer since
1942 xould be leaving this position and the C. C. Painter would assume Mr. Gunter ~e post.
ChAdrmen Hobbs expressed the regrets of the Hoard at mr. Gunter~s leaving and bide beat
wishes to him Tor much success in hie new position.
The County Accountant delivered to the Hoard the final audit report oT the W. M. Huss
Company of Raleigh N, C.
After n short discussion the report the Accountant recommended that the suggestion of the
avitors relating to the Mebane School District Fund on pages 5 and 6 of said report be put into
effect.
Upon motion of Cosmdasioner Yfalker~ seconded by Cosmissioner Jonee~ end unanimously adopted
the County Accountant xas directed to write off the books x.,006.03 in reserve to offset and
liability arising for the Mebane School District debt and the $370.25 in the Mebane School
District account shall be transferred to the General Fund S~plus.
There being no father business this meeting was adjourned.
