PURPOSE: To discuss any additional possible items for inclusion in Orange County's
legislative agenda package for the 2001 North Carolina General Assembly Session based on
meeting with Orange County's legislative delegation on March 12, 2001.
BACKGROUND: The BOCC expressed,a desire to formulate a.legislative package to pursue
for the 2001 North Carolina General Assembly Session which began on January 24, 2001. A
recommended list of potential legislative items was provided to the BOCC and was approved by
the Board at the March 6, 2001 BOCC meeting following a public hearing and several
modifications.
Members of the Board met with Orange County's legislative delegation on March 12, 2001 to
discuss the County's legislative items and other items related to the 2001 General Assembly
Session. Based on discussions at that meeting, the Board may want to address any additional
legislative items to support during the 2001 General Assembly Session.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board proceed as it desires
based on the March 12, 2001 ,meeting with Orange Caunty's legislative delegation.
