between Orange County and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD) for services performed during the FY 2000-2001 and providing $10,000 for the
Southeast Regional Civil Rights Summit.
BACKGROUND: On September 5, 2000, the Board of Commissioners approved a Cooperative
Agreement with HUD for FY 2000-2001. HUD proposes to amend the Cooperative Agreement
to provide $10,000 in additional funding for additional duties and responsibilities associated with
the Southeast Regional Civil Rights Summit, which will include fair housing training for Fair
Housing Assistance Program agencies in the Southeast/Caribbean Region. The Summit is
being held April 23-27, 2001 at the Sheraton Chapel Hill. The Department of Human Rights
and Relations will receive this money to do, among other things: purchase conference training
supplies, space rental, printing costs, rental of audio/visual equipment and other administrative
costs associated with the conference.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Approving an amendment to the cooperative agreement would provide
the Department of Human Rights and Relations with $10,000 for the Southeast Regional Civil
Rights Summit.
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the resolution
approving the Amendment to the Cooperative Agreement and authorize the Chair to sign the
agreement.
