BACKGROUND: On September 5, 2000, the Board of Commissioners approved a Cooperative Agreement with HUD for FY 2000-2001. HUD proposes to amend the Cooperative Agreement to provide $10,000 in additional funding for additional duties and responsibilities associated with the Southeast Regional Civil Rights Summit, which will include fair housing training for Fair Housing Assistance Program agencies in the Southeast/Caribbean Region. The Summit is being held April 23-27, 2001 at the Sheraton Chapel Hill. The Department of Human Rights and Relations will receive this money to do, among other things: purchase conference training supplies, space rental, printing costs, rental of audio/visual equipment and other administrative costs associated with the conference. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Approving an amendment to the cooperative agreement would provide the Department of Human Rights and Relations with $10,000 for the Southeast Regional Civil Rights Summit. RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the resolution approving the Amendment to the Cooperative Agreement and authorize the Chair to sign the agreement. A55iStanCe Award/ U.$. RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY AND THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR SERVICES PERFORMED DURING THE FFY 2000-2001 WHEREAS, on September 5, 2000, the Board of Commissioners approved a Cooperative Agreement with HUD for FFY 2000-2001; and, WHEREAS, HUD proposes to amend the Cooperative Agreement to provide $10,000 in additional funding for additional duties and responsibilities associated with the Southeast Regional Civil Rights Summit sponsored by Orange County; and, WHEREAS, the Orange County Department of Human Rights and Relations can use these funds to do among other things: purchase conference training supplies, space rental, printing costs, rental of audio/visual equipment and other administrative costs associated with the conference; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Orange County Board of Commissioners to approve an amendment to the Cooperative Agreement with HUD providing the Department of Human Rights and Relations with $10,000 for the Southeast Regional Civil Rights Summit.
