Meeting Minutes, May 7 2019

CALL TO ORDER by Vibeke Talley, Chair
• Members Present: Vibeke Talley (Chair) Martha Bell, Stephanie Boswell, Susie Deter,
Jerry Ann Gregory, Carol Kelly, Autumn Cox (Ombudsman), Annie Deaver (Orange
County DOA
• Members excused: Stephanie Miller, Bill Morgan
OLD BUSINESS;
• Discussion/Approval Minutes Mar 5, 2019: Minutes approved as written.
NEW BUSINESS
• Membership:
o Stephanie Miller: reappointed to a partial term.
o Susie Deter: term expired after 7 years of service. She leaves our committee with
thanks for her dedicated service to our County’s older adults.
o Vibeke continued emphasis for all to continue membership recruitment in light of
current openings.
• Site Visit Reports: Carol Woods: approved with changes.
• Ombudsman Report (Autumn Cox, Ombudsman)
o Reiterated Adult Abuse workshop May 22, 2019, 9am – 3pm, RTP
o Visits/Complaints Received and Reviewed for sites: Carolina Point for food
complaints; Brookshire re: dietary concerns for independent living resident (referred
resident to the Dept of Insurance, which handles issues for the independent residents);
Parkview: tracking trends re: 30 day occupancy; Signature: 5 surveyors in facility for
4 days; facility received only 2 tags; additional information will follow; Carol Woods:
food management concerns from a family member, however the resident had no
concerns.
• Program on Aging (Annie Deaver)
o Ongoing recruitment Orange County Aging Advisory Board.
o Annual SHARP awards ceremony (recognition of direct care workers/CNAs),
Thursday May 9th, 4:30pm, Passmore Center, Hillsborough. All are invited to attend.
• Reminders:
o Quarterly Activity Reports Due: July 2019
o Quarterly Site Visits due when completed; please provide to both the Ombudsman
and Committee Chair
o Next meeting: July 9, 2019.
