BACKGROUND: On November 22, 2017, Orange County awarded a design contract with Smith Sinnett Architecture for the Professional Services for the design of the Southern Campus Expansion. The schedule provided at that time reflected a design for the site work improvements, additional parking for the Seymour Center, and expansion of the existing Seymour Center facility. Smith Sinnett Architecture worked diligently with Orange County Department on Aging, Asset Management Services, and other related departments, along with the Town of Chapel Hill to provide a complete set of drawings and specifications for adding additional parking, upgrading the storm water systems, roadway improvements, and expanding the Seymour Center. Staff is currently negotiating costs and other details with Muter Construction to develop a final contract.
