PURPOSE: To consider a Proclamation Recognizing the East Chapel Hill High School
Women’s Soccer Team for winning the 2019 State 3A Championship.
BACKGROUND: The East Chapel Hill High School Wildcats Women’s Soccer Team won the
North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) State 3A Championship on May 25,
2019 with a 2-0 victory over T.C. Roberson High School.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item.
SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated
with this item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the
Chair to sign the attached proclamation recognizing the East Chapel Hill High School Wildcats
Women’s Soccer Team for winning the 2019 State 3A Championship and honoring the players
and coaches for representing the community with the highest ideals of sportsmanship and
integrity.

PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON
EAST CHAPEL HILL HIGH SCHOOL WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM
WINNING THE 2019 STATE 3A CHAMPIONSHIP
WHEREAS, the East Chapel Hill High School Women’s Soccer Team captured the North
Carolina High School Athletic Association’s State 3A Championship; and
WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Austin Collins, the Wildcats compiled a sterling
record of 20-2-2 and 13-1 in the Big 3A Conference; and
WHEREAS, the East Chapel Hill Women’s Soccer program has won four state titles in school
history, in 1998, 2000 and 2004 prior to this season; and
WHEREAS, through their hard work, dedication, teamwork and commitment, the team and
Coach Collins brought honor upon themselves, East Chapel Hill High School, the
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools District and Orange County;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners
expresses its sincere appreciation and respect to the East Chapel Hill High School
Women’s Soccer Team for their outstanding achievement and their inspiration to
youth across North Carolina through their dedication, teamwork and athletic
prowess.
