January 13, 1959
The Orange County Boazd oI Comliissi oners met ir. adjovr ned session with the County Hoard
of Education and the Trustees of the Chapel bill Adrdr strative Unit, on Tuesday, January 13,
19$9 at 8 p.m.. ir. tfie Commissioners room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, P, C,
Members present: Chairman P., ./. ID. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones, Donald fi`,cDade,
Donald Stanford and Henry Ylali<er,
Members absent: Hone
This meeting ryas held for the purpose of discussing h ~r to compose the membership of a
committee to sudy school financdng and other needs threughout the county.
Ross Porter of the Doaz'd of Education moved this coimni.ttce be composed of live ($)
members one (1) chosen from each of tho follor;in boards: County Hoard of Commissioners,
County Board of Education and Doard of l7ustees of the Chanel Bill Administrative Unit, Citizens
Committee for the Imorovement of County School Systemp Citizens Committee 1'or the Improvement
oi' the Chapel Rill Aaministrative Unit,

committee,
Grey Cul6zeth of the Chanel Hill Aanuni str ative Unit moved this committee be composed
of fifteen (15) persons selected o;~ the Boazd of County Commissioners from a list of names
suggested in the letter to the Board of County Coradssioners from the County Doazd o1
Education concernin;; this subject. Said letter w2s dated December oi' 195d, Mr. Culbreth's
motion was seconded by Hoss 'totter. -
After considerable discussion of the motion on the floor Chairman 6obbs called for a
vote and thew were 1h ayes and 0 Hayes,
She joint meeting eras adjourned.
Continuing in this session the Hoazd of Commissioners were presented a two (2) year
contract for the employment of Mrs. Fay Bidet as Court Reporter at a salazy of 5100.00
per creek plus expense estimated to run at $30.00 to SL0.00 per reek. Commissioner Stanford
moved for the contract to be accepted. Cormds siomer McDade seconded this motion. Chairman
Hobbs called for a vote. There rere L ayes and 0 (ryes.
The resignation of Bill Richmond as Delinquent Tar. Collector r:as received and accepted.
the County Accountant and the Tar. Collector recommended Erank Roderick be appointed for
the position of Delinquent Tax Collector, CormSSSionez Stanford moved ti;at Mr. Frederick.
