Re: Recommendations for Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool
Staff contacted the following members of Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool (hereafter "the pool")
and learned that they were available to serve another term:
• Jean Austin: Ms. Austin has been available to serve throughout her first term in the pool and
she has indicated that she is available to serve a second term.
• Bonnie Hauser: Upon her recent appointment to the pool, Ms. Hauser quickly completed her
training and served on a number of hearing panels. She has indicated that she is interested in
serving another term.
• Amanda Schwoerke: She has been a very active member of the pool and she has indicated an
interest in continuing to serve the county in this capacity. Recently, Ms. Schwoerke became
one of the three members of the Animal Services Advisory Board who are also members of the
pool. As such, she is responsible for chairing some of the hearing panels that are convened.
• Laurie Smith: Dr. Smith indicated she is willing to serve another term. During her first term, she
has been one of the more active members of the pool during her first term.
Staff also contacted Frederick Schmid, DVM and learned that he is no longer residing in Orange County,
North Carolina.
