PURPOSE: To consider making one new appointment to the Hillsborough Planning Board.
BACKGROUND: There is a Hillsborough ETJ vacancy on the Hillsborough Planning Board,
The Town of Hillsborough has submitted a resolution for appointment of Arthur G, Janes to the
Hillsborough Planning Board. The resolution was received in the Clerk's Office on April 12,
2005, and the Board of County Commissioners must appoint to this seat within 90 days time, or
Hillsborough Town Board may make this appointment,
If appointed, Mr, Jones will be serving a term that will end April 30, 2008,
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making one new appointment to the Hillsborough Planning Board.

RESOLUTION REQUESTING AN APPOINTMENT
TO AN EXTRATERRITORIAL TURISDICTION SEAT
ON THE HILLSBOROUGH PLANNTIdG BOARD
WHEREAS, as a result of the end of a tam, it is necessary to appoim a person to a seat reserved
on the Hillsborough Planning Board for persons residing within the town's exhaterritorial
Planning jurisdiction; and
WFIEREAS, by state statutc and town ordinance, the Orange County Hoard of Commissioners
initially has the authority and responsibility to appoind ET7 members to the town's Planning
Board.
NOW, T'IIEREFORE, THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF TFIE TOWN OF
HII,LSBOROLTGH RESOLVES:
Section 1. The Orange County Board of Commissioners is respectfully requested to
appoirrt thc following individual to a full tens of en ET7 seat on the Hillsborough Planning
Board, whose term would expire in Aptil 30, 2008:

Fillsborough, NC 27278
Section 2. If the Orange County Board of Commissioners fails to appoint persons
willing to serve in the capacity descn"bed above within 90 days after receiving this resolution,
then the Iiilisbomugh Town Board may make this appo;nhrrent
Section 3. The Town Clerk shall send a copy of this resolution to the Orange County
Section 4. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote received the following vote end was
duly adopted this 11 m day of April 2005.
