PURPOSE: To consider one appointment to the Advisory Board on Aging.
BACKGROUND: There are two Town of Chapel Hill vacancies an the Advisory Board On
Aging. We have received a letter from the Advisory Board on Aging recommending Mr. Fred
Schroeder. Mr. Schroeder would be serving a first full term, which would expire on 9/30/07.
FINANCIAL. IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making appointments to the Advisory Board on Aging as the
Board may desire,

The Orange County Advisory Board an Aging reviewed all applicants for the
Aging Board `s position #11 requiring a Town of Chapel Hill residency that was
vacated upon the resignation of Mr, Marvin Brack, At the August 11th Aging
Board meeting, the Board recommended Mr, Fred Schroeder to fill the position
# 11 vacancy which term expires on 06/30/06 and that he be appointed to a full
three year term to expire on 06/30/07,
Mr, Schroeder is a resident of Chapel Hill, He presently is retired from UNC-CH
following 34 years of Administrative work,
Mr, Schroeder has served on several Town and volunteer boards. He is Past
President and a current member of the Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center
Board of Directors and served as cc-chair of the Senior Center Bond Education
Committee. Mr, Schroeder also presently serves on the Orange County Rape
Crisis Center's Board of Directors. With his volunteer experience in serving on
both Town and County boards and committees, Mr. Schroeder will be an asset to
the Advisory Board on Aging and the older population of Orange County,
