PURPOSE: To confirm the continuation of the County's dental insurance rates for 2005 with
no increase and to authorize renewal with Delta Dental as the County's dental insurance plan
administrator effective January 1, 2005.
BACKGROUND: In summary, the County's employee dental insurance program is a self-
insured plan. Delta Dental is the plan administrator. The County's current rates will support the
2005 dental program and no rate increase is necessary. There also is no increase in Delta
Dental's administrative fee. Additional information is provided below.
Shown below are the monthly dental insurance rates for 2005. The chart shows the Total Cost,
County Cost and Employee Cost for each coverage type. These are the same rates as for
2004, The County contribution for employee dental insurance is the cost far individual
employee coverage. The employee pays the cost of dependent coverage.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds are available within the approved budget for 2004-05.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board confirm continuation of
the County's dental insurance rates for 2005 with no increase and authorize the Personnel
Director to renew the County s agreement with Delta Dental as the County's dental insurance
plan administrator effective January 1, 2005,
