(The Board previously approved a budget amendment to finance this project at the November 13, 2018 regular meeting). BACKGROUND: Due to the current environmental remediation issues at the Emergency Services building at 510 Meadowlands, the Primary 9-1-1 Center must be relocated to the Backup 9-1-1 Center at the West Campus building in the coming weeks as construction activity will disrupt operations. To have the Backup 9-1-1 Center fully operational as a primary 9-1-1 Center for an extended amount of time, additional equipment is needed to ensure continuity of 9-1-1 operations. The total cost of the equipment is estimated at $615,000. The Board of Commissioners approved repurposing funds from the Orange County Radio/Paging Systems Upgrade Capital Project to the 9-1-1 Backup Center Capitol Project to cover the cost of the equipment at the November 13, 2018 regular meeting as part of Agenda Item 8-c. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The November 13th budget amendment repurposed sufficient funds for this project. No additional financial impact is anticipated. SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are applicable to this item: • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. The upgrade of the Backup 9-1-1 Center will assure the continuity of uninterrupted 9-1-1 call taking services for citizens and responders without a change in operations for responders. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the Manager to execute agreements for the purchase and installation of equipment for the 9-1-1 Backup Center following review and approval by the County Attorney.
