PURPOSE: To consider approval of a resolution expressing gratitude and recognizing Susan
Levy for her service to the people of Orange County as Executive Director of Habitat for
Humanity of Orange County.
BACKGROUND: Susan Levy will be retiring as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of
Orange County after 26 years of leading the organization.
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, under Susan Levy's leadership, has helped to change
lives by building affordable homes, now averaging approximately 12 new homes a year, in safe
and supportive communities. Habitat also works with existing homeowners to provide
improvements to help them stay in their existing homes.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with consideration of the
resolution.
SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated
with this item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the attached
resolution expressing deep appreciation to Susan Levy for her service to the people of Orange
County, and authorize the Chair to sign the resolution on behalf of the Board.

RESOLUTION OF RECOGNITION
FOR
SUSAN LEVY
WHEREAS, Susan Levy, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Orange County,
will be retiring after 26 years of leading the organization; and
WHEREAS, she has served nearly 40 years in the affordable housing field; and
WHEREAS, under Ms. Levy's leadership since 1992, Habitat for Humanity of Orange
County has changed lives by building affordable homes in safe and supportive
communities; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Susan Levy, Habitat now averages building about
12 new homes a year, and has partnered with Orange County to make effective use of
public funds dedicated to expanding affordable housing options; and
WHEREAS, Habitat is not just building new homes, it is also working with existing
homeowners to help them stay in their homes and improve the look and feel of entire
neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, since forming in 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County has built or
repaired 608 homes as of June 30, 2018;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of
Commissioners expresses its deep appreciation, gratitude and respect to Susan Levy
for the services provided throughout the community under Ms. Levy's leadership for the
people of Orange County.
