Everyone was dressed neatly, moving around or watching TV. 2. One resident stated that they had gone without a shower for 2 weeks. 4. Residents in Memory Care sitting around tables with no interactions among them observed, no activity taking place, staff of 3-4 clustered at the nurses station. 2.Did residents say they receive assistance with personal care activities? (i.e. brushing their teeth, combing their hair, inserting dentures or cleaning their eyeglasses) Yes 3. Did you see or hear residents being encouraged to participate in their care by staff members? Yes 4.Were residents interacting with staff, other residents & visitors? Yes 5.Did staff respond to or interact with residents who had difficulty communicating or making their needs known verbally? Did residents describe their living environment as homelike? Yes 12. Upon arrival one team member sat with residents under the front porch and she was later joined by another team member. No Smoking Sign Posted but a couple residents were smoking and they commented that the "chiefs come out here and smoke so do we." 13. Residents commented that they can get help as needed, including medications. 9. Did you notice unpleasant odors? No 10. Did you see items that could cause harm or be hazardous? No 10a. Were residents asked their preferences or opinions about the activities planned for them at the facility? Yes 15. The new Recreation staff member will begin working on May 15, 2017. 16. There is a volunteer who was unloading a car with loads of personal shopping items that residents had ordered. Reminder was posted in the window of the dining room reminding residents about her shopping for their personal items today. 17b. Several residents commented that the kitchen runs out of food items especially milk and mentioned kitchen staff turnover. Others, however, commented that "the food was getting better". 19. Give summary of visit with Administrator or SIC. Does the facility have needs that the committee or community could help address? The committee spoke with Ms. Stamey upon exit and during this interview it was positively noted that she administrator knows her residents well. Ms. Stamey indicated that she would check into whether one resident's claim that their PT insurance limit had been met and to determine whether some other therapy could be provided. Similarly, Ms. Stamey was advised about the complaint that clergy visits were found to be intrusive. She indicated that she would see what options there would be for the resident to attend denomination-specific services in the community.
