M. in the Cpmmissi oners' Room at the Courthouse in H111s boro, N. C. t4embers present: Chairman R. J. 14. Eobbs, Commissioners Donald McUada, Dwight tA. Rag, Donald Stanford and Henry Ylalker, Members absent: None. The minutes of the October meetings were read and approved. Dirs. Clarence Jones, representative of the Hillsboro Garden Club, mede a report on the progress of the Historical I•?useum. She requested on behalf of her Club, that the unemployment group, which now meets Sn the Courtroom of the Old Courthouse, be moved from this location to the basement of the New Courthouse. She also asked that the weights and measures which are now an display 1n the Naw Courthouse be moved to the Museum. I3rs. Jones was informed that the hies eum Committee has permission to move the weights and measures to the I•?useum, and that some arrangements would be made to re-locate the meeting place for the unemployment group. Ren orts were given for the month of October, 1957, bg the following Department Officials: Ode11 Clagton, Sheriff; Jessie Trowbrld~e, Home Demonstration Agent; Frank I4addry, Dellnauent Tax Collector; Jane Parker, ldelS are Superintendent; E. ht. Lynch, Clerk of Court; iJalter I•lrena, Civil Defense Director; end I?rs, Nivens, District Libreri an, IInon motion of Commissioner Stanford, seconded by Cortsnis stoner Sag, and unanimousl passed, the Register of Deeds was authorized to turn over to the Garden Club all of the conies of ORAIIGE COUNTY 1752-1952". The Club is to keen the money from the sale of these books. The County Attorney and the County Accountant are to draw a resolution pertainiag to the books which ere stored at the Orange Print Shop unbound. They were reeues ted to investigate the printinc, contract which was slened bg Orange County at the time the first books entitled "033^iGE COUPIPY 1752-19526 were printed. The County Accountant informed the Hoard that I•?r. Ferrell from Chapel H111 has be en retained to repair the plumbing in the Jail. Mr. Clarence Jones of Hillsboro epneared before the Boerd and spoke against the ~iprop os ed electrical inspection ordinance. Ros emend, Orange Countg's Electrica inspectors, Upon motion of Commis si oner Ray, seconded by Corrmds si on er Stanford and unanimously passed, the following fee schedule was approved for the Electrical Inspectors: Mr. Morrow - - - 55.00 per school Mr. Rosamond - - a6.00 per school The difference in the tyro schedules is to comnens ate Nu•, Rosemond far tr evel Upon motion of Commissioner 4lslker, seconded by Comml ss i.oner Ray and unanimously ~~ adopted, it was ordered that e supplemental eppr onrifltion of y1, 000.00 be made to the 'y school budget from the un-appropriated surplus in the school current expense fund to peg the expenses involved in complying with the School Inspection Law, There wes s discussion on the proposed Ele etric al Ordinance which had been drawn and submitted by the County Attorney, and it was decided that the Hoard should studg the ordinance further before tekirgeny action. M. in special Bess ion in tho Commis si onars' Room at the Courthouse with all members present. Mr. Grey Culbreth, Chairman of the Hoard of the Chanel Rill School Administrati va Unit, end J. Q,. LeGrend, their Attorney, epos Bred before the Hoard of Commissioners and presented the following resolution adopted by the Chapel Hill School 3oard: "WF~REAS, the Chapel H111 City Soard of Education, by various conveyances of record in the office of the Register of Deeds of Orange County, has become and is now the owner of a tract of land located in Chapel Hill Township, Orange County, North Carolina, containing approximately thirty-six acres, which tract of land was knorm as Tract I of tho Wileg Henderson property end was allotted to Ylillis J. Henderson in the Division of the Wileg Henderson property, a report of which D1vi- '.. si on is recorded In Book 52, Page 173, Orange Countg Registry; and, ''.. 47HEREAB, there is located on apart of said thirty-six (36) acre tract of land ''~. an old abandoned nri vats cemetery or burying ground which was not reservod in or ~' excluded from the deeds by which said thirty-six acre tract of land was conveyed to the Chapel Eill City Board of Education by the various heirs of I.71111s J. Henderson; and, YIHEREAB, the arse covered bg said abandoned private cemetery or burying ground is needed for use by the Chen el H111 City Board of Education in the construction and operation of buildings, playgrounds and improvements petals erg to the operation of the public schools and to enable the Chanel H111 City Hoard of Education to perform its public functions end duties as prescribed oy larr and it has become necessary end expedient, in the opinion of the County Comrissi onars of Orange County that the graves in said old cemetery or burying ground be removed as provided by Sections 65 - 13 and 65 - 15, General Statsstas of North Carolina; N0Y7, THEREFORE, HE IT RES OL rV'D bg the County Commis sl onars of Orange Countg that, in their opinion, the removal of the gr eves nom located in the old private cemetery or burying ground hereinbefore referred to is ne cessarg end exnedi ant in order that the Chanel H111 City Board of Education may properly perform the duties and functions imposed upon it by law in the operation of the public schools end in the construction and over ati on of buildings, nlaggrounds and improvements necessary thereto, end that said graves may be removed by the Chanel Hi11 City Hoard of Education from their present locations to suitable nl ots in some other cemetery, as provided in General Statutes of North Carolina, Sections 65 - 13 and 65 - 15, after notice as required by law, said work of removal to be under the supervision of the Countg Health Officer and the board of County Cormissi onars of Orange Countg.
