Monday, August 5, 1957
The Board of Comunis sione rs of Orange County met in the Commissi oners' room of
the courthouse in Hillsboro, Iv, C., on Fionday, August $, 1957, at 10 o~cl oc!c a,m.
Members present: Chairman R. J. Pi. Hobbs, Comnissl oners Donald i?. Stanford and
Henry 5. llalker.
Members absent: Cormnissi oners Dwight Ai. Ray and Claud T, Pope.
The minutes for the meetings held during the month of July, 195 L were rend
by the Clerk and approved by the Hoard.
The following Department Officials presented rep orts for the month of July, 1957•

A letter from Tom 3, Rose, City Fianager of Ch ¢nel FIi11, +ras recd recces ting
that appointments to the Doard of Adj us tme-t be made to fi 11 tl:e e:<plr ed terms
and other vecani os which now exist on the Board of Adjustment. The Coruni ssioners
requested that a letter of recommendation for appoint ess to the Boerd of Adjustment
be submitted by the Tocm of Chapel fii11.
The foil owing road petitions were presented:
Clyde Roberts requesting paving; the Board requested that '.:e get ¢ petition
signed and submitted to the Board; J, C, Jordan requested pevinE and P?ax^y S. Halsprin
requested graded & gravel.
The County Accountant wes asked to investigate the nerr N. C. General Statute
--'x•115-150,1 concerning the fire & electrical inspection law pertaining to the
monthly inspection of all schools in the county. The Board also requested that the '
County Accountant meet with the elctric el inspectors of the county, after the forms
are secured from the Commissioner of Insurance, to discuss the Pee which is to be
paid by the county to inspectors for me etinC the State requirements. A report on
this matter is to be given at the next monthly meeting,
Commissioner Stanf ord esked that a latter be written to the llepzrtment of
I4otor Vehicles requesting that a nice for tee distribution of license elates be
made available in Chapel H111, 3i. C.
IInon motion of Cormissioner k7alker, sac onded by Conrd ssi oner Stanford, and
unanimously passed, the County Accountent was authorised to Snvest the j50,000.00
School Debt Service ?ands in five Building & Loan Associations loc eted in this
irmnediate area,
