The Orange Congregation in Mission seat on the Human Services Advisory Board was recently
filled with the appointment of Ms. Robin Barnhill, a member of the OCIM Board. Congratulations to
Ms. Barnhill. We appreciate your service on this important committee.
The following positions remain vacant at the present time:
Three At -Large positions
One position for Orange- Person - Chatham (OPC) Area Programs for Mental Health,
Substance Abuse, and Developmental Disabilities
One position for Communities -in- Schools
One position for United Way

Recruitment Efforts:
♦ Public Service Announcements: These have been placed in newspapers and on the Cable Peoples
Channel.
♦ Internet: The County Web Site features our Advisory Boards and Commissions. There is also and on-
line application that interested citizens may fill out and submit via the internet.
♦ Posters: Enclosed are posters concerning recruitment for this Commission and other vacancies.
Please distribute these posters in public places, such as doctor's offices, supermarkets, libraries, tire
and auto centers, grocery stores, etc., to help increase awareness of need for citizen involvement.

12 Co -Chair Debbie Kinert opened the meeting and welcome
13 updates. Louise Echols was ill and could not attend this evenin the members and asked for member

15 Debbie also mentioned that Barry Jacobs, Orange County Commissioner
16 Commission, sends his regrets that he is out of town in Georgia working and member of this
1 g and could not attend.
18 Member Introductions and Reports:
2V Dee Gamble, Board of Social Services: The Board of Social Services i
21 appointment to its Board which will be the fifth member, making a co s getting ready to make an

25 Membership There was discussion about vacancies on

36 A motion was made by Dee Gamble, and seconded by Rebecca Youn
37 to recommend Ms. Hudson Fuller and Mr. Terry Hill to be a ointed and unanimously approved,

10 Staff was instructed to contact the Directors of OPC Area Program,
11 United Way to notify them of the continued vacancies on the Human Communities -In- Schools, and

101 Marvin said that he may be out town on the date of the Forum, and will let the Commission know
102 regarding his plans at the August meeting.

104 Debbie asked Dee Gamble if she would lead a Facilitators' Training at the next meeting of the
105 HSAC, to which she agreed. Dee had led a similar Training in 1999 and it was very helpful. It was
106 the consensus of the members to have Dee lead a facilitator's training at the August meeting.

108 Marvin stressed the importance of having handout materials available at the Forum. Corinthia said
109 that she will follow up on that, as she did last year.

11- ♦ Copies of overheads that are shown by the speakers (sometimes overhead presentations are

114 ♦ Invitations will be going out the week of the 24ffi
115 ♦ Registration cost is still $10 and includes the luncheon
116 ♦ The Friday Center is reserved for the occasion
117 ♦ The. "dot system" used last year will be used again because is worked so well

119 ♦ If an extra meeting is needed before the Forum, it will be called
120 ♦ The same Evaluation Form will be used as last year with updated information
