BACKGROUND: The Board of Commissioners adopted its “Rules of Procedure for the Board of County Commissioners” in May 2002. Multiple amendments have been made since that time. At the May 1, 2018 BOCC Regular Meeting, Chair Mark Dorosin and the Board discussed changing the Public Charge as printed on the Agenda, The suggested modification follows: Amended Strike-through/Underline Version PUBLIC CHARGE The Board of Commissioners pledges to the residents of Orange County its respect to members of the public. The Board asks members of the public its residents to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner, both with the Board and with fellow members of the public residents. At any time should any member of the Board or any member of the public resident fail to observe this public charge, the Chair will take steps to restore order and decorum. ask the offending person to leave the meeting until that individual regains personal control. Should it become impossible to restore order and continue the meeting,decorum fail to be restored, the Chair will recess the meeting until such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge is observed. The BOCC asks that aAll electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers, and computers should please be turned off or set to silent/vibrate. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the amendment to the Rules of Procedure for the Board of County Commissioners to revise the Public Charge portion of the Board of Commissioners’ Regular Meeting Agendas. 2
