HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimeline for Unified Animal Control Ordinance Timeline for Unified Animal Control Ordinance October 10, 2013 • October o Gather written comments from Commissioners from October 1 meeting o Confer with Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) regarding “my dog scenarios” o Contact Aimee Wahl, UNC School of Government, regarding key issues Trespass and watchdog “My dog scenarios” • From actual case histories • Hypotheticals from the ASAB Clarification of observations about the appeals body • November o Review and incorporate Commissioner written comments (see above) o Consider and work through “my dog scenarios” o Meet with and/or obtain feedback from Professor Wahl Annette, Bob and ASAB Chair and/or Vice-Chair • December o Prepare necessary revisions of the proposed ordinance Clean-up Substantive • January o Present revised proposed ordinance to Animal Services Advisory Board o Make further revisions as needed o BOCC Work Session Obtain direction on key issues and/or policy choices • Trespass and watchdog • Appeal process Obtain “clean up” comments from Commissioners on final proposed ordinance” • February o Clean up “final proposed ordinance” based upon Commissioner comment o Schedule first reading for “final proposed ordinance” • March o First reading of “final proposed ordinance” o Second reading of “final proposed ordinance” in all likelihood
