2015 HIGHLIGHTS
Initiatives & Successes
Increased the number of Spay /Neuter Day from 3 to 4 special
events.
Waive the pet licensing fee for Orange County DSS clients who
have their pets sterilized.
Reduced the number of animals admitted to the Orange County
Animal Services Center for the last two consecutive years, to
under 3,000.
Opportunities & Challenges
Increasing the number of sterilized dogs and cats to 500 -plus

• Growing the number of residents who participate on the basis of income rather than
public assistance
• Changes in the NC Spay Neuter Reimbursement Program eligibility criteria; excluding
public assistance and reducing the total household income.
