V. Orange County Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) 45
46
Randy Marshall updated the members on the latest meeting on the CTP. He noted that Sarah Lee created a 47
summary list of responses from the survey taken in the fall of 2009. Randy noted Paul Guthrie suggested, and the 48
Steering Committee agreed to draft a letter to the MPO referencing the survey and let the MPO benefit from the data 49
collected from the citizens of Orange County for area in the Metropolitan Area Boundary. He advised the deficiency 50
analysis, the survey results and input from the public input meeting held on February 7 would probably go to the 51
Board of County Commissioners in April 2011. We hope the County Commissioners will endorse the information 52
gathered so far and approve moving to developing the first draft of the CTP. 53

Paul Guthrie noted the public input session was attended by few people but those who attended were very positive. 55
He noted the best outcome was three County Commissioners attended as well as a member of the Planning Board 56
and they received very good information regarding the CTP. Paul also noted the topic most discussed was bicycling, 57
both as concerns for safety and the need for both bike facilities and education. 58
59
Randy Marshall added there was also a reporter from the News of Orange in attendance. 60
61
Tina Love noted that the article appeared that day, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 and she told the members she 62
would email it to everyone. She added that the president of Orange County Voice was also in attendance. 63

VI. Board Comments/Updates 71 72
Mila Vega gave the Members an update on the Mid-Range Bus Plan. She noted they have identified 70,000 hours 73
of recommended service and at this point, the financial model has projected only 34,000 service hours can be 74

committee is waiting to see if the projected funds available for bus service will be less than 34,000 service hours and 76
how much less. Mila also noted the half cent sales tax, if passed, can be used for new service. 77
78
Nancy Baker noted staff will give a report on the Safe Routes to Schools Action Plan at a joint meeting of the Town of 79
