PURPOSE: To provide notice of the Board of County Commissioners' plans to hold a public
hearing on March 1, 2005 on potential items for inclusion in Orange County's legislative agenda
package for the 2005 North Carolina General Assembly Session.
BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners is asked to schedule a public hearing
on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. in the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom at the Courthouse in
Hillsborough, North Carolina. The purpose of the public hearing will be to receive public
comments on potential items for inclusion in Orange County's legislative agenda package for
the 2005 North Carolina General Assembly Session.
The Legislative Issues Task Force (CITE) has been reviewing items for possible inclusion in
Orange Ccunty's legislative package. Information on the proposed items will be provided to the
BOCC and others prior to the March 1 meeting.
It should also be noted that the Clerk to the Board has scheduled a joint legislative breakfast for
the BOCC and Orange County's legislative delegation for March 14, 2005,
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Any funds necessary to provide the public notice are included in the
Clerk to the Board's budget for the current year.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The County Manager recommends that the Board direct the Clerk to
the Board and the County Manager, on behalf of the Board of Commissioners, publish a notice
of the Board's intent to hold a public hearing on March 1, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. in the F. Gordon
Battle Courtroom at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina to receive public comments
on potential items for inclusion in Orange County's legislative agenda package for the 2005
North Carolina General Assembly Session.
