THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON MONDAY:July 17, 2017at the
Hillsborough Commons, Hillsborough, North Carolina.
BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT:Tamara Dempsey-Tanner,Ann Wilkerson,Pat
Garavaglia andSusie Enoch.
GUEST:None.
BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERSABSENT:Earl McKee.
STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Director; andLindsey Shewmaker, Human Services Manager.
I.Call to Order and Introductions
DSS Chair, Tamara Dempsey-Tanner, called the meeting to order at 4:09pm.

IV.Agenda Changes
None.
V.Action Items
On a motion byPat Garavaglia,the Board approved the minutes of June 19, 2017.Ann Wilkerson
seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent.
VI.Items for Discussion and/or Decision
1.Election of Chair/Vice-Chair
Ann Wilkerson moved that Tamara Dempsey-Tanner serve as Chair of the Social Services Board
for FY 2017-18. Pat Garavaglia seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent.
Pat Garavaglia moved that Ann Wilkerson serve as the Vide-Chair of the Social Services Board for
FY 2017-18. Susie Enoch seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent.
2.Executive Session
One a motion by Pat Garavaglia the Board moved into closed session to discuss the Director’s
evaluationpursuant to§ 143 318.11(a)(6). Ann Wilkerson seconded the motion. The motion was
carried without dissent.
VII. Announcements

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday,August 21, 2017at the Hillsborough
Commons, 113Mayo Street, Hillsborough, North Carolina at 4:00pm.
Pat Garavagliamoved to adjourn the meeting at 5:50p.m.Susie Enochseconded the motion. The
motion was carried without dissent.
