The Parks and Recreation Council is of particular interest to me because of the experiences I have had with parks planning and the potential of parks and common spaces to foster social cohesion and community. I spent my first five years as a Carrboro resident on Williams Street directly across from Wilson Park, which I enjoyed almost daily. I have continued to utilize the many recreational opportunities available in the county, from dog parks to walking/bike trails, and appreciate living in a community that is so invested in maintaining its parks and promoting active lifestyles. I would like to support these longstanding efforts, and seek further opportunities to promote equitable access to parks for residents and visitors throughout the county.
