BACKGROUND: Price Creek Estates: Residents of Price Creek Subdivision (9 homes in Chatham County) have petitioned the North Carolina department of Transportation (NCDOT) Division 7 to accept maintenance responsibilities for a 0,03-mile portion of Amber Wood Run and a 0.05-mile portion of Booth Road that are in Chapel Hill Township, Orange County, Amber Wood Run takes access from Booth Road, which extends as SR 1531 south of the Orange/Chatham County Line to US 15-501 South. Amber Wood Run is located in Price Creek Estates, a 21-lot subdivision in Chatham County with portions of two of the lots extending into Orange County. The Orange County Board of Commissioners approved the preliminary plat for the northern portions of two lots in Price Creek Estates in November 1998. Price Creek Estates was approved as a major subdivision in Orange County because of the 0.03-mile portion of Amber Wood Run, which was dedicated as a public road. NCDOT has investigated the request (please refer to attached Secondary Road Addition Report), and has submitted the petition to the Board of Commissioners for its review and approval. The Board must take an administrative action to approve the petition to NCDOT in order for NCDOT to add the 0.05-mile portion of Booth Road and 0.03-mile portion of Amber Wood Run to the State Secondary Road System, and accept maintenance responsibilities for those roads. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with this item.
