PURPOSE: To consider one change in the County Commissioners' regular meeting calendar
for year 2007.
BACKGROUND: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40, the Board of County
Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or provide a notice of any change in
the Regular Meeting Schedule.
The Board will .consider amending its regular meeting schedule for 2007 by adding a meeting
on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Southern Human Services Center from 7:OOpm-9:OOpm.
The BOCC and the following Element Lead Advisory Boards will be invited to attend: Affordable
Housing Advisory Board, Agricultural Preservation Board, Commission for the Environment,
Economic Development Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Orange Unified
Transportation Board, and the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council.
The meeting will be hosted by the Orange. County Planning Board and pending contract
authorization at the December 4th BOCC Meeting,. Mr. Andy Sachs of the Dispute Settlement
Center will be providing- meeting facilitation services. Staff support will be provided by the
Planning Department.
This meeting will serve as a "kick-off" among the advisory boards for their participation in the
process and may be used to:
--Review the timetable for project completion
--Share the role of the Dispute Settlement Center in the process
--Share Planning Board's Draft Purpose and Scope for the Comprehensive Plan
--Share Planning Board's Draft Table of Contents for the Comprehensive Plan
--Share ideas for use of a "Synthesizing" consultant

--Answer questions, receive feedback, and discuss next steps for the Element Lead Advisory
Boards.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: NONE
RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board amend their regular
meeting calendar for 2007 by adding a meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Southern
Human Services Center from 7:OOpm-9:OOpm.
