Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau Board
February 15, 2006
The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau Board met in the Conference Room at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro
Chamber of Commerce, 104 S. Estes Drive in Chapel Hill at 8:00 a.m. on February 15, 2206.

CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Pavao, Chair, called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m.
WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
Mr. Pavao opened the meeting by welcoming Board Members, guests and staff members.
Presentation by Equation Research
Mr. John Pelletier and Ms. Carolyn Pelletier, representing Equation Research provided handouts to meeting attendees. (Handouts will be attached
to minutes as attachments.)
Mr. Pelletier explained to the group the purpose, process and results of the research survey his company recommends for the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors
Bureau. After the presentation regarding the research project, discussion ensued and questions from Board Members were answered by Pelletier.
Mr. Pavao asked for a motion to retain
Equation Research to conduct the survey research project for the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau. Mr. Creston Woods made the motion, seconded by Mr. Mark Sherburne. With
all Board Members in agreement the motion was accepted unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Pavao asked for approval of the minutes of the December 14, 2005 Board Meeting minutes.
Mr. Bill Crowther made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Mr. Mark Sherburne seconded the motion. With all Board Members in agreement, the motion was carried unanimously.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget and Finance
Ms. Dianne Reid, in the absence of Finance Chair Moses Carey, presented the financial report. Ms. Reid stated the financial report presented
in the board packet appeared to be in order. The line item “contract services” showing 106% of FY 2005-06 budget spent includes the executive director’s moving expenses. Monies have
been appropriated to the proper account to accommodate the overspent line item.
Marketing Report
Mr. Rick Strunk reported that the Olympic sports of in-door track and swimming held
in Chapel Hill recently were very successful. The indoor track event brought about 600 athletes and 50 coaches. The swimming event brought about 550 swimmers and about 200 coaches.
Strunk also stated that the North Carolina High School Athletic Association continues to promote Chapel Hill to host various high school championships.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Ms. Laurie Paolicelli gave a brief report on the concept of partnering with the Chapel Hill Press to print a book on “How to Enjoy Chapel Hill/Orange County.” The
book would target all of the areas many attractions enabling the tourist to make an itinerary to suit their particular interests.

In the interest of devoting sufficient time to the presentation by Equation Research, allowing questions and concerns of the Board to be addressed, committee
reports and director’s reports were abbreviated.
ADJOURNMENT
With all business of the Board completed, Mr. Pavao asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Crowther made the
motion to adjourn and motion was seconded by Ms. Convissor. With all Board Members in agreement, the meeting was adjourned at 9:20 a.m.
