PUBLIC CHARGE
The Board of Commissioners pledges to the residents of Orange County its respect. The Board asks its
residents to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner, both with the Board and with fellow
residents. At any time should any member of the Board or any resident fail to observe this public charge,
the Chair will ask the offending person to leave the meeting until that individual regains personal control.
Should decorum fail to be restored, the Chair will recess the meeting until such time that a genuine
commitment to this public charge is observed. All electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers, and
computers should please be turned off or set to silent/vibrate.
Arts Moment – Jeffery Beam
Jeffery Beam's award-winning works: Broken Flower, Gospel Earth, Visions of Dame Kind,
Elizabethan Bestiary: Retold, New Beautiful Tendons, a CD What We Have Lost, Jonathan
Williams: Lord of Orchards, and Spectral Pegasus/Dark Movements – a poetry/painting
collaboration with Welsh painter Clive Hicks-Jenkins (January 2019 Connecticut’s Kin Press).
Composer collaborations: Lee Hoiby—Carnegie Hall premiere Life of the Bee (2001 Albany
Record's New Growth); Steven Serpa—Heaven's Birds (2008 Boston’s World AIDS Day), An
Invocation (2016 Austin Symphony), The Creatures: A Bestiary (2016 Austin Opera); Holt
McCarley—The Hyena (2015, St. Louis); and Daniel Thomas Davis—Family Secrets w/Beam’s
Porch Song (2015 UNC-CH, 2016 NC Opera). Forthcoming—a children’s book The Droods
(English artist Phil Cooper). Retired botanical librarian (2011 UNC-CH). Beam lives with his

approval, endorsement, or consent.

negotiating position regarding the terms of a contract to purchase real property,” NCGS § 143-
318.11(a)(5).

preserve the attorney-client privilege between the attorney and the Board.”
