The Orange County Boaid of Commasaionars met on Llonday, October 1, 1956, nt ten o~clock.
Members present: Chairman R, J. ?S, Hobbs, Commissioners Sim D. 5flaad, Sdnin Lanier, Dnight Aay

Minutes for the meetings hs ld an September 4th and Seotc_mber 25th asse re sd by the Clerk and
eoproved by the Hoard.
Chairman Hobbs reported on the progress being mods in the construction oT the road located is
Chnnal Hill Tormship, running 17om the North Cnroliaa Llemorial Hospital to D. S. 15-501 (Hy-Pase),

Chairman Hobbs reed letters from Jesse C, Riley end J, J. Glossop requesting reductions Sn
thsir 195b tax assessments, The Board agreed to inspect tFsir respective properties.
Ira A. k'ard of Hillsboro presented a roed petition for a rued lce¢ted in the subdivision
knorm ns Di mmocks Efilla.
Ii:r. Tam Rose, Toren Nansger of Chanel Hill, discussed t..*.e problem of the fire district with
the board,
Mra, Jane Parker, Superintendent of welfare, presented a blind aid grant for Cnriie F.. Brown,

Harold F,drrards, Attorneys appeared on behalf of Service Insurance affi Realty Company erd
requested thet abatement be made on texea collected for 1956 on e p¢rtially completed house in
Chapel Hilh
Upon motion of Cosmissioner Lanier, aecorrled by Coranission°r Asy e:rl unanimously passed, it
eras ordered that the 1956 tax asse ssrr?nt on the property of Hermsn Lloyd, located et f/B9 Chriatooher
Road in Chanel Hill, be reduced by 50,E oT the total tax assessment, as Efr, Lloyd certifies thet
the horse was only one-helf coanle ted at the time it ran assessed.
Upon motion of Ccsuaissianer Ianlers seconded by Commissioner Rsy, ar3 unanimously oa ssed,
Chairman Hobbs Tres authorized to confer xrith h!r, Hill Murdock, Solicitor: and discourage esy
compromise in the Peggy LicNair case. The Chairman Ss urged to insist thet full restoration of
th_ monies du= the County be obtained from the Deferrlnnt end returned to the ?7e ]Sara Department.
There Bras some discussion concerning the vacancy being created in tho ^alfare -eoartment by
the resignation of idrs. Jere Perker.

Eill Planning Hnsrd. Eir. Cleaveler3 requested that the 9oard anooint someons to fill the tiro
existing vacancies on said PLenning Board.
