Comprehensive Plan Housing Goals
Housing Overarching Goal: Opportunity for all citizens of Orange County to rent or purchase
safe, decent, accessible, and affordable housing.
Housing Goal l: A wide range of types and densities of quality housing affordable to all in all
parts of the County.
Housing Goal 2: Housing that is useable by as many people as possible regardless of age,
ability or circumstance.
Housing Goal 3: The preservation, repair, and replacement of existing housing supply.
Housing Goal 4: Development ordinances and incentives that promote inclusionary practices
and housing options for all income levels.
FY 2011— 2012 Workplan
I. Develop recommendation for unallocated Affordable Housing Bond Funds
• Disaster relief (perhaps for mobile homes)
• Permanent housing for the homeless
• Repairs for Club Nova Apartments in Chapel Hill.

3. Seek assistance from UNC- Chapel Hill School of Journalism regarding developing a
community -wide media campaign that would keep the need for affordable housing in the
community conversation for the County and the Towns of Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and
Carrboro.
